Playtika’s market leading solitaire game, Grand Harvest, has another contender – and it’s made by another Playtika-owned studio. SuperPlay’s Disney Solitaire enters the fray today, not long after King launched Candy Crush Solitaire back in February.
CEO and founder of SuperPlay, Gilad Almog, says the Disney collab hit around 1m pre-registrations across both app stores. And he says the new release is ready to enter an increasingly competitive genre with “a superior solitaire mechanic that is more fun and exciting than other solitaire games out there today.”
“Tripeaks solitaire is an evergreen game with massive audience, yet still untapped in the mobile gaming space with only a single top grossing game, Solitaire Grand Harvest,” Almog told us. “The early response to Disney Solitaire speaks to both the enduring appeal of the format and players’ appetite for elevated, low-friction experiences.
“We’re seeing strong demand for games that are easy to pick up, deeply satisfying, and built for scale and Solitaire is a perfect fit.”
But with Solitaire Grand Harvest and Candy Crush Solitaire out there already, isn’t this market pretty crowded already? “We see Disney Solitaire as a complementary addition to our portfolio,” says Almog.
“The success of Playtika’s other Solitaire game, Solitaire Grand Harvest, underscores the demand for innovative approaches to the genre. With Disney Solitaire, we’re expanding the Solitaire experience even further. By bringing Disney fans, we believe we’re helping grow the overall Tripeaks market, not cannibalise it.”
Almog tells us it was Disney who approached SuperPlay to work on the collaboration, and from there the two companies worked up a game aimed at what one might call ‘Disney adults’. “Disney Solitaire is built to resonate with a wide audience of players 18+, from casual gamers to lifelong Disney fans,” says Almog.
“We’re particularly focused on adult Millennials who grew up with Disney and are looking for content that feels both familiar and elevated. This generation grew up with Disney, and that emotional connection remains strong today.”
As we’ve reported previously, King launched Candy Crush Solitaire in February, a game apparently designed to take a bite out of Solitaire Grand Harvest’s leading market share. And, of course, SuperPlay is now owned by the maker of Solitaire Grand Harvest, Playtika, which acquired the firm in September 2024 for an initial $700m.
